'VisionQuest' Reveals New Image of Ruaridh Mollica as Speed

SFX Magazine dedicated its latest issue to VisionQuest and brought new images from the MCU show alongside an interview with Ruaridh Mollica, set to make his Marvel Universe debut as Tommy Shepherd (Speed). 

The released images show Tommy’s new look, as well as Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari, also known as Arms Dealer. At first, Molinari appears to be an ally of Tommy’s — but in the comics, the character eventually takes a darker path and becomes a member of the Masters of Evil.

During the interview, Mollica was asked whether his character’s bisexuality would be addressed in VisionQuest. "I don’t know if it’s explicitly mentioned, but I feel that, as a bisexual actor playing Tommy, I hope that comes through in his personality and in who he is, and that it can be explored in the future," the actor said.

Wiccan’s sexuality wasn’t really explored in Agatha All Along, but it was quite clear that the character was gay. With that in mind, it’s not surprising that Marvel chose not to portray Billy’s twin brother as bisexual.

VisionQuest, the series dedicated to Vision, will feature only human versions of its robotic characters, including the protagonist played by Paul Bettany and the villain Ultron. The decision was made by the producers to save on visual effects costs.

Terry Matalas, who created the show, also serves as showrunner, producer, and director. Paul Bettany returns as the title character and is joined by returning Marvel actors: James Spader as Ultron and Faran Tahir as Raza. Emily Hampshire will play the sophisticated artificial intelligence E.D.I.T.H. (Even Dead I'm The Hero ), Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) augmented reality security and defense system. T'nia Miller will portray Jocasta, Todd Stashwick will play Paladin, and Orla Brady will be F.R.I.D.A.Y.

The series premieres on October 14 on Disney+ as part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
