'Avatar: Seven Havens' Reveals How Many Years Passed Since 'The Legend of Korra'

In an interview with Polygon, executive producer Sehaj Sethi and co-creator Michael DiMartino revealed that the new series Avatar: Seven Havens will take place around 226 years after the events of The Legend of Korra.

The Avatar Studios production, which premieres on October 9 on Paramount+ with 26 episodes, also had its cultural influences and the context of the new world detailed by the team.

According to DiMartino, development on the series began about six years after Korra ended. The team wanted to set the story in a post-cataclysmic world and "threw around ideas to see what kind of Avatar would make the most sense in that world." The new Avatar, Pavi, is a kind-hearted person, but she lives in a world that hates Avatars — and the big question driving the plot is: "How did the world get so bad? Why does everyone hate the Avatar?"

Everything you need to know about Avatar: Seven Havens

The official synopsis presents the following story: set in a world devastated by a catastrophic cataclysm, a young earthbender discovers that she is the new Avatar, Korra’s successor. In this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin sister must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Ports before the last bastions of civilization collapse.

The cast includes Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aishu Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and Dee Bradley Baker as Geet and Ruhi.
