'GTA 6' Will Run at 30 FPS on Consoles For Now; Here’s Why

According to Flow Games, Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will run at 30 frames per second on all consoles, including the PlayStation 5 Pro.
The reveal came after the broadcast of GTA VI: An Extended Look on Netflix, which showcased 27 minutes of gameplay. Among the details that emerged from the publication's visit to Rockstar was the confirmation that the game runs at 30 FPS—at least for now.
The head of development and co-director of Rockstar North, Rob Nelson, said the technical team is still evaluating the possibility of implementing a 60 FPS option at launch or in future updates.
The gameplay shown has the game running steadily, without significant drops, with signs of ray tracing in reflections. There are still no details on resolution, global illumination, or shadows. The decision to keep 30 FPS on all consoles reflects Rockstar’s priority of preserving the scale and level of detail of the open world, which is twice the size of GTA V and three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2.

GTA VI arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. A PC version has not yet been announced.
