According to information from The Miamian, obtained through a public records request, the Miami-Dade County government is in talks with Rockstar Games to turn public spaces into Vice City-themed attractions as part of the launch campaign for Grand Theft Auto VI.

The mayor’s spokesperson, Carlos Suarez, confirmed that talks did take place, but stressed that no agreement has been finalized and that any project would need to go through review and approval.

The presentation sent by the county government to Rockstar in June proposes creating installations at locations such as Miami International Airport, PortMiami, Metrorail and Metromover stations, Tropical Park, and other public spaces.

The ideas range from themed baggage claim at the airport with planes wrapped in Vice City branding to decorated train stations, customized manhole covers, and waterfront art installations.

At Tropical Park, the suggestion is a family-friendly event celebrating Miami car culture, with classic cars, lowered cars, motorcycles, and DJs.

Everything you need to know about GTA VI

Once again developed by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI is the first GTA in thirteen years, following the astronomical success of GTA V, released in 2013. The franchise is one of the most successful in video game history.

The story of GTA VI takes place in an open world based on Florida, in the United States. Its setting is Vice City, a fictional version of Miami that debuted in the first GTA and later got its own game with 2002’s GTA Vice City.

GTA VI arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. A PC version has not yet been announced.
