In 'GTA 6', Jason and Lucia's Romance Will Depend on Players' Choices
The couple's fate will depend on how the player chooses to make them spend their time together.
The awaited Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay reveal, which aired this Thursday (27) exclusively on Netflix, anticipated how the relationship dynamics between leads Lucia and Jason will work. Aside from their occasional dangerous jobs, the pair will also go on separate adventures and attend social events together, may that be as friends or something more.
GTA VI: An Extended Look shows interactions such as holding hands and flirting, but that might not always be the case. According to IGN, it will be up for the player's to decide whether the relationship will develop into a romantic one or stay completely platonic.
"There are no specific gameplay benefits earned by building a strong romantic connection, meaning romance is completely optional and predominantly a roleplaying decision for players to make", wrote Matt Purslow and Simon Cardy, who were able to view a game demonstration at Rockstar North's offices.
"At the beginning of the story, Jason and Lucia want to pursue a romantic relationship. Whether this ends up happening is up to you, though. This is managed by spending time together outside of missions, as the critical story path may not provide a sufficient amount of time for their love to blossom".
During the campaign, however, alternate activities in the city and nice personal gestures can be done together to increase their bond. No matter how the player chooses to make them spend their time together, they will always report back to one another as a safe space.

Once again developed by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI is the first GTA in thirteen years, following the astronomical success of GTA V, released in 2013. The franchise is one of the most successful in video game history.
The story of GTA VI takes place in an open world based on Florida, in the United States. Its setting is Vice City, a fictional version of Miami that debuted in the first GTA and later got its own game with 2002’s GTA Vice City.
GTA VI arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. A PC version has not yet been announced.
