DC Comics has announced that the transgender heroine Dreamer (Nia Nal) will take on the mantle of Wonder Woman in an alternate reality in the miniseries Justice League: Dream Girls – A DC Pride Event #1 set to be released this Wednesday (03).

In the story, after falling under the influence of the Witch-Queen, Nia Nal and her partner Taylor Barzelay awaken in a dimension where they are Amazons. Nia takes the place of Diana of Themyscira in her early days, meeting pilot Steve Trevor and beginning her own origin journey as Wonder Woman.

The story is written by Jadzia Axelrod and Nicole Maines (the actress who brought Dreamer to life on CW’s Supergirl), with art by Nicola Scott, J. Bone, Ted Brandt, and Ro Stein.

Dreamer made her television debut on Supergirl as TV’s first transgender superhero, and has since crossed over into DC Comics, with her journey being shaped by Nicole Maines herself.
