Pierce Brosnan Says He Admires All James Bond Contenders and Praises Callum Turner

The fiercest competition in Hollywood right now is who will be chosen to play the new James Bond in the movies.

The names most frequently mentioned are Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, and Josh O'Connor, although recent rumors suggest that the choice is split between the first two.

Pierce Brosnan, who has already played the spy in the movies, has made it clear that he prefers not to take sides, but recently praised Turner, with whom he worked on the 2017 drama The Only Living Boy in New York .

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Brosnan said: "Oh, I’m just an audience member now. I’m just the man in the street who is eager to see who is going to play this epic role of cinematic history. All the men who are on the list now are actors I admire. Callum Turner is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s so strong. They all have a voice and a physique, and a presence on film."

"They all have longevity as actors, all of these young men", he clarified. "Whoever is chosen, I wish them all the best in life, strength and courage".

With over 20 films released since the 1960s, 007 is one of the longest-running franchises in cinema history. From the very beginning, the Broccoli family has stewarded the character and his films—first with Cubby Broccoli, founder of Eon, and later with his children, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. In 2025, however, the Broccolis decided to sell creative control of the character to Amazon MGM Studios for a reported $1 billion. Within Amazon, Amy Pascal—producer for the Spider-Man films—and David Heyman—who produced the Harry Potter adaptations—were selected to produce and manage the franchise.

It is not yet known when the new James Bond film will be released, let alone who will take on the role of Agent 007. However, Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Dune) will direct, and Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) is handling the screenplay.
