The Lord of the Rings (bundle)

J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth is one of pop culture’s most magical places, and you can journey there through the HBO Max catalog. The streaming service offers not only Peter Jackson’s trilogy, but also the extended editions of those films. In addition, the excellent animated feature The War of the Rohirrim is also available to stream on the platform.

The Batman (2022)

Widely regarded as one of the best live-action versions of Gotham’s Dark Knight, Matt Reeves’ The Batman made the director one of Warner Bros.’ favorites, while also turning Robert Pattinson into a sensation among male audiences after the actor rose to fame with the Twilight saga. The Batman succeeds in restoring the Caped Crusader’s signature comic-book detective tone and, thanks to its outstanding cinematography and score, leaves a lasting impression on the viewer.

They Will Kill You

One of the most fun comedy horror movies of the year, They Will Kill You is yet another shot by russian director Kirill Sokolov. Led by Zazie Beetz in a very action demanding role, the movie follows Asia Reaves (Beetz) as she sees her life take a dark turn after landing a new and mysterious job. With fun sequences that lean into a very bloody battle-royale, the movie is a must-see for action enthusiasts (and Patricia Arquette admirers).

Superman (2025)

DC’s official home, HBO Max updated its catalog in October with the addition of Superman by James Gunn, one of the biggest films of 2025 and a major hit among this year’s superhero releases. In this new feature film about the hero, Gunn presents his vision of the iconic superhero, in which Kal-El’s (David Corenswet) intentions are called into question thanks to the schemes of Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult). The cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan, ⁨Isabela Merced, ⁨Edi Gathegi and Nathan Fillion.

Marty Supreme

Directed by Josh Safdie, Marty Supreme has helped put Timothée Chalamet on the spotlight once again. The movie follows a very determined, but very tormented aspiring table tennis player. The chaotic search for stardom makes the film a breathtaking experience, that helped get Chalamet his Best Actor awards from Golden Globes and Critic's Choice.

Mad Max: Fury Road

George Miller directed stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and other top Hollywood talent in a high-octane post-apocalyptic epic. In a post-apocalyptic world, Max Rockatansky (Hardy) believes the best way to survive is to rely on no one. But he is captured by the tyrant Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne), and fate places him alongside Imperator Furiosa (Theron), who is trying to save a group of girls from the powerful villain. All the films in the franchise are available on the streaming service.

One Battle After Another

The well-acclaimed movie directed by Paul Thomas Anderson sees Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio) go down a violence rabbit-hole when his long-time enemy, Col. Steven J. Lockjaw (Sean Penn), makes a return onto his life and puts the life of Willa (Chase Infiniti), Bob's daughter, in danger.

Sinners

One of the best films of 2025, Sinners is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Michael B. Jordan in a dual role, alongside Delroy Lindo, Hailee Steinfeld and a stellar ensemble cast. The vampire thriller tells the story of two twins trying to leave their troubled lives behind as they return to their hometown for a fresh start. There, they discover that an even greater evil is lurking, waiting to welcome them back.

Weapons

It might seem like cliché to highlight a movie where a small town gets tormented by something — or someone —, but Weapons stands out with its haunting storyline and remarkable performances from both Julia Gardner, who plays Justine, and Amy Madigan, who takes the role of Gladys.

Legally Blonde/Reproduction.

It's never too late to watch Legally Blonde, specially when prequel Elle has just debuted on streaming Prime Video. Reese Whiterspoon's take on what it means to be a popular smart girl has proved itself to be timeless over and over again — and it also serves as a way to decompress after a very intense binge-watching of this list.
