Pierce Brosnan On Who Could Be the Next James Bond

Pierce Brosnan played the role of Agent 007, James Bond, in four films of the action franchise between 1995 and 2002. Now, at 73 years old, he gives his opinion on who could be the new interpreter of the British spy.

In an interview with The Times , Brosnan said: "I have no desire to see myself as Bond. I'm just a member of the audience waiting to see who will be next and wishing him the best. "

"There are a lot of good people competing. Many good actors," he emphasized. "I'm following it. They could probably do something unexpected and choose someone none of us know."

The veteran actor refused to name a specific person. "I wouldn't choose anyone. My wife told me not to say anything, and I've already said too much. Because once I say something, it's going to be everywhere, and I'll be stuck with it," Brosnan explained.

Everything you need to know about the future of 007

With over 20 films released since the 1960s, 007 is one of the longest-running franchises in cinema history. From the very beginning, the Broccoli family has stewarded the character and his films—first with Cubby Broccoli, founder of Eon, and later with his children, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. In 2025, however, the Broccolis decided to sell creative control of the character to Amazon MGM Studios for a reported $1 billion. Within Amazon, Amy Pascal—producer for the Spider-Man films—and David Heyman—who produced the Harry Potter adaptations—were selected to produce and manage the franchise.

It is not yet known when the new James Bond film will be released, let alone who will take on the role of Agent 007. However, Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Dune) will direct, and Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) is handling the screenplay.
