Not much is yet known about the next X-Men movie, directed by Jake Schreier, aside from a few names in the main cast. One of those names is Inde Navarrette (Obsession), who will play Rogue.

Since the film will feature Rogue, the possibility of Gambit appearing is always debated. But will Channing Tatum, who played the character in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) and will also appear in Avengers: Doomsday, continue in the role?

According to journalist Caleb Williams of Knight Edge Media, the answer is that the mutant will appear, but Tatum is out of the picture. In a post on X, he said: "Small Tidbit…there's a possibility Gambit has a small role in #XMen and they have been casting for it since September when I first heard the possibility. Not 100% sure though".

Everything about the X-Men reboot

The confirmed cast so far includes Kit Connor as Cyclops, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Asa Germann as Angel, Chris Abbott as Professor X, and Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister.

Jake Schreier , of Thunderbolts* , will direct the project. Lee Sung Jin , creator of Treta , and Joanna Calo , co-creator of The Bear , are working on the script.

In the comics, the X-Men are a group of people born with special abilities who face societal prejudice simply for being mutants. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the original lineup included Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Beast, and Angel, in addition to Professor X himself. Only many years later were more popular characters included, such as Wolverine, Gambit, Rogue, and Storm. It is still unknown what lineup will be used in the movies.

The release date for X-Men has been confirmed for May 5, 2028 .
