In an interview with SFX magazine, Takashi Yamazaki stated that he would return to the giant monster franchise if Toho invited him. The filmmaker, who directed the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One and is behind the highly anticipated sequel Godzilla Minus Zero, commented on his future with the character.
"I've been a huge Godzilla fan since I was a small child, and I gave my all with Godzilla Minus Zero," he stated. "[These films] are major milestones in my career and in my life so far. But that doesn't mean I would never work on another Godzilla film again. If Toho made me another offer to explore this world even further, I would probably say yes.
Despite his willingness to continue, Yamazaki assured that he is at peace with the work done so far. "If you told me this is my last Godzilla film, I would be quite satisfied with what we have achieved," he added. "I am very grateful to Toho for entrusting me with their baby. I'm glad I was a Godzilla fan, because that's what allowed me to do all this."
