During Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, Rockstar Games showed off several gameplay details for GTA VI, including some brand-new mechanics in the upcoming game.
In addition to confirming the return of the ability to work out and build up the characters' physiques, a series of new mechanics was also revealed, such as the option to play a mini-game to break into a car. It will also be possible to study the animals found in the game, likely tied to the hunting mechanic.
The trailer also showed a bit of the character customization, as well as the ability to interact directly with Lucia, showing that the two will stay very close throughout the game.
The honor system has also been implemented in GTA VI, just as it was in Red Dead Redemption 2. The mechanic appears at certain moments, such as when Jason goes to pet the dog at the beginning of the trailer.
Jason also uses food to recover health, and can walk hand in hand with Lucia on special occasions, such as during a mission. It was also revealed that the police will recognize the character by the weapons they are carrying as well as the clothes Jason and Lucia are wearing, as indicated on the map next to the wanted stars.
It was also shown that players will be able to ride jet skis and kayaks, and even rob different kinds of stores, such as jewelry shops or even convenience stores.
The game also showed how switching between Jason and Lucia works, likely by using a button to instantly swap between them while they are together. However, when they are apart, the mechanic is the same as in GTA V.

Once again developed by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI is the first GTA in thirteen years, following the astronomical success of GTA V, released in 2013. The franchise is one of the most successful in video game history.
The story of GTA VI takes place in an open world based on Florida, in the United States. Its setting is Vice City, a fictional version of Miami that debuted in the first GTA and later got its own game with 2002’s GTA Vice City.
GTA VI arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. A PC version has not yet been announced.
