'The Rookie' Will Release Extended Version of Important Episode; See Everything You Need to Know

The ninth season of The Rookie is still six months away from premiering, but fans are already getting new content from the series starring Nathan Fillion. An extended version of the episode "His Name Was Martin", the tenth episode of season eight, will be released in the Extras section on the series homepage on Hulu. The material will include approximately 5 and a half minutes of additional scenes. 

According to Deadline, the additional scenes include action sequences in which the team tries to escape the aggressive, zombie-like workers, as well as a scene cut due to time constraints that would have provided context for the emotional conversation between Lucy and Tim (Eric Winter) at the end of the episode, in which he comforts her.

Everything about The Rookie

The series follows the journey of John Nolan (Fillion), a businessman going through a midlife crisis who decides to pursue his longtime dream of becoming a police officer, joining the Los Angeles Police Department as a rookie.

The premise is based on the real-life story of American William Norcross, who joined the Los Angeles police force as a recruit at 44 years old. The LAPD is one of the few in the United States that accepts rookies over the age of 37.

The Rookie was created by Alexi Hawley, inspired by the journey of William Norcross, who left the family business to follow his calling to become a police officer in Los Angeles. In the adaptation, Norcross comes to life as the character John Nolan, played by Nathan Fillion (Castle, Firefly, The Big Bang Theory).

In addition to Fillion, the cast also includes Shawn Ashmore (Frozen, X-Men), Jenna Dewan (Supergirl, American Horror Story), Alyssa Diaz (Ray Donovan, The Vampire Diaries), Richard T. Jones (Ally McBeal, Narcos), Eric Winter (CSI: Miami, The Good Doctor), and Ivan Hernandez (The Good Wife, ...And Just Like That), among others.

The first seven seasons of The Rookie are available on Hulu.
