'The Office' Series Creator Says He Doesn’t Plan to Work on a Reboot

In an interview with Variety, Greg Daniels, creator of the American version of The Office, explained why a reboot of the series is unlikely to happen. In his view, the show's ending was well received enough that there's no need to revisit the characters.

"I don’t think we need to find out what all the characters are doing, largely because of the way the series ended. It seems like people liked the ending, and you’re risking a lot by reopening that," Daniels said.

The statement is likely to disappoint some fans, who have been asking for some kind of continuation for years. The series ended 13 years ago after nine seasons, and it remains one of the most watched and talked-about comedies on American television. Even so, Daniels was clear in saying that giving up a successful ending would be too big a risk.

Over the years, some members of the show's cast have commented on their desire to return for a reboot of the production, but by all indications, it seems very unlikely that Greg Daniels would agree to come back for a possible continuation.
