Netflix’s 'Ransom Canyon' Canceled After 2 Seasons

According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Netflix has decided not to move forward with a third season of Ransom Canyon. Starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, the Texas-set romance drama series will come to an end after two seasons.

The decision was made about a month and a half after the release of Season 2, which premiered on July 23, 2026. The production had already been in an uncertain position: the first season drew what was considered a decent audience, but not enough to secure a quick renewal. Season 2 was only confirmed more than two months after the first season’s debut, with eight episodes instead of ten and changes to the cast and creative direction.

Viewership was a key factor in the decision

The new season’s performance appears to have been one of the main reasons behind the cancellation. Ransom Canyon posted 4.1 million views in its first week, a 43% drop compared to the 7.2 million logged by Season 1 in its debut week.

Although the series managed to bring its first season back into Netflix’s weekly Top 10 for one week, Season 2 dropped out of the ranking after just three weeks. According to Deadline, the decline in viewership may not have been enough to offset the production costs, with Duhamel and Kelly leading the cast.

Even so, the cancellation does not leave the main characters on a major cliffhanger. Unlike the end of Season 1, Staten Kirkland (Duhamel) and Quinn O’Grady (Kelly) finish the second season together and in a stable place, while other storylines were left open.
