Emily Wickersham will return to play Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop in the third season of NCIS: Origins. According to Deadline, the actress will participate in several episodes of the spin-off, marking the character's first appearance in the production. Her debut will be in the episode “Shimmy Shimmy Ya”, scheduled for October 27th in the United States. Wickersham played Bishop in the original series for eight seasons, until leaving the cast in 2021.
The return is part of a storyline set in the present day, which follows Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) as he investigates those responsible for an assassination attempt against him.
In the story, Bishop is recruited by the new NCIS director, Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), to help Gibbs track down the suspects. Weatherly also returns in the third season, reuniting with Harmon in a special appearance. While the past storyline follows Gibbs at the beginning of his career in 1993, the present-day narrative explores events after his departure from the agency.
