According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Jimmy Tatro has been confirmed as Gorilla Grodd in the HBO Max series centered on Jimmy Olsen. The project, which has not yet received an official greenlight from the network, is described as a true crime-style comedy series with Olsen (Skyler Gisondo) as the host.

The first season is expected to focus on Gorilla Grodd, a villain who frequently faces off against the Flash. The series is created by Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, creators of American Vandal, who are writing, producing, and serving as showrunners.

James Gunn and Peter Safran, heads of DC Studios, are executive producers alongside Galen Vaisman, with production by Warner Bros. Television. Gorilla Grodd, a character created in 1959 by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, is a hyper-intelligent ape with telepathic powers who seeks to dominate both the ape and human worlds. The character was recently seen in the Arrowverse.

Since Grodd is part of the Flash’s rogues gallery, it’s unclear whether the production will end up giving a glimpse of the Scarlet Speedster, or if it will focus solely on the villain’s origins.
