Roald Dahl's universe continues to expand at Netflix. In addition to the Willy Wonka reality show and a new animated adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the streaming giant has just announced that it is producing a series based on the British author’s short stories—and it already has cast members attached: Nicola Coughlan, from Bridgerton, Imelda Staunton, from The Crown, and Dominic West, from The Wire.

The production will have six episodes and will be written by Danny Brocklehurst, the creator behind the series Fool Me Once. The plot will be inspired by Dahl’s adult short stories and will follow a young couple trapped in a decaying seaside town, surrounded by con artists, adulterers, murderous mothers, and snake charmers.

Alongside Coughlan are Naomi Scott (Smile 2), Josh Finan (Say Nothing), Toby Jones (MobLand), Carmen Ejogo (The Penguin), Christine Tremarco (Adolescence), Michael Socha (The Cage), and Clarke Peters (The Boroughs).

The series is another investment by Netflix in Dahl’s universe. The company bought the Roald Dahl Story Company in 2021, taking control of the rights to the writer’s literary estate and characters.
