According to exclusive information from Deadline, the crossover between G.I. Joe and Transformers is no longer happening. No details were revealed in the report, only that production did not move forward.
With the new GI Joe movie in development starring Bradley Cooper, it's quite likely that Paramount Skydance won't want to continue with the project, as the franchise is expected to undergo a complete overhaul.
Given how David Ellison, owner of Paramount, wants to create new films for the studio's main franchises, such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, and G.I. Joe, it's quite likely that the production would no longer fit into the series' timeline.
The brand began in the mid-1960s as a realistic soldier toy and gained its current form with the relaunch in the 1980s, which included Marvel cartoons and comics. It was during this phase that characters like Roadblock and Snake Eyes emerged, as well as the terrorist organization Cobra, with villains such as Cobra Commander, Baroness, Destro, and Zartan.
The new film in the franchise does not yet have a release date.
