After insider Jeff Sneider revealed that Michael Johnston, Bear from Obsession, would be part of the cast of The Mummy 4, the actor himself confirmed the news.
On social media, Johnston shared a screenshot of the report and joked in the caption: "The secret is out of the sarcophagus", officially confirming his involvement in the sequel.
We still do not know who Johnson will play; however, it is very likely that he will portray Alex O'Connell, the son of Evelyn and Rick O'Connell, who was played by Freddie Boath in The Mummy Returns and later by Luke Ford in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
Everything you need to know about The Mummy 4
The Mummy 4 marks the return of Rachel Weisz, John Hannah and Brendan Fraser to the franchise. Filming was scheduled to begin in August.
Sean Daniel, who produced the original films, is returning to produce this new feature. The film is not being described as a reboot, but rather as a continuation of the franchise that will ignore the events of the third film, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
The Mummy franchise, which revitalized Universal's monster, had its first film in 1999, grossing US$ 422.5 million, creating a successful franchise and turning Fraser into one of the leading actors of the time.
The Mummy 4 opens in theaters on October 15, 2027.
