New Adam Sandler Movie 'Grown Ups 3' Begins Filming

Filming has officially begun on Grown Ups 3, the new movie in Adam Sandler's hilarious franchise that defined the 2010s. Alleged behind-the-scenes images have also leaked—check them out below:

Filming is expected to take place in New Jersey, Boston, France, and Italy, with production scheduled to wrap around mid-October.

The sequel brings back the franchise veterans: Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, and Rob Schneider. The third film will be released by Netflix.

Kyle Newacheck signed on to direct the film after working with Sandler on projects such as Happy Gilmore 2, one of last year's biggest streaming releases. The screenplay was co-written by the actor in partnership with Tim Herlihy.

The Grown Ups franchise revolves around a group of childhood friends who reunite as adults during summer vacation. The third movie will follow Lenny (Sandler), Marcus (David Spade), Rob (Rob Schneider), Kurt (Chris Rock), Eric (Kevin James), and their partners after the death of a close friend. They travel across Europe to scatter his ashes and prove they still know how to have fun, even after turning sixty.

Directed by Dennis Dugan, the first two films in the Grown Ups franchise were released in theaters by Sony's Columbia Pictures. The first, released in 2010, grossed about US$272 million worldwide, while 2013's Grown Ups 2 earned around US$247 million.
