The failure of Supergirl did not cause Warner Bros. Discovery to change course for the DCU. During a meeting with market analysts, CEO David Zaslav said the company remains confident in the strategy led by James Gunn and revealed that he is very excited about Superman 2: Man of Tomorrow, which he considers one of the key projects to get the shared universe back on track.

According to the executive, Gunn is fully dedicated to the film. "I saw some footage yesterday that was incredible. Yesterday was actually James's birthday, and he was working. He works 16, 18 hours a day. It's turning out fantastic," he said.

Zaslav also highlighted that DC is continuing to move forward with other projects, such as The Batman 2, with no change in direction after the disappointing performance of Supergirl, which grossed just US$126 million at the worldwide box office and impacted Warner's financial results in the second quarter. "We have a strong slate of projects, and Peter Safran and James Gunn are working hard," the executive said, reinforcing confidence in the future of the franchise.
