'Hawaii Five-0' Is Set to Get a Film Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton

According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Paramount Pictures is putting together a package to finally bring the 1960s TV series Hawaii Five-O to the big screen, with Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, leading the project.

Cretton is attached to develop and direct, with Chris Bremner (Bad Boys for Life) writing the screenplay alongside Noah Oppenheim (Jackie). The package was assembled by Guymon Casady of Entertainment 360, in partnership with the estate of the series' creator, Leonard Freeman, who will also produce. The project was first brought to Paramount because of the original series and the remake made at CBS.

Created by Freeman, the series, which aired on CBS between 1968 and 1980, starred Jack Lord as Steve McGarrett, the hard-nosed cop who led a Hawaii state police task force. 

More information about the production, such as who will be in the cast, has not been revealed. It's very likely that once the project is approved at Paramount, casting discussions will begin.
