'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners' Returns With a David Martinez Mention
Anime returns to Netflix this Tuesday (19)
One of the most acclaimed anime of the decade, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners returns with a brand new season and new characters — but without completely abandoning the legacy of its first year. This time, we see a new group of social misfits facing everything and everyone for a goal that ends up becoming common among them. However, despite so many new things, the series also allowed itself to look back and make some mentions of David Martinez, the protagonist of the first season.
In this new chapter, Weak, a legendary cyberpunk in decline, finds himself forced to live without his cybernetic implants while searching for meaning in a world that has left him behind. Meanwhile, the nomad D embarks on a journey of revenge, but ends up uncovering corporate secrets that should never have been revealed—and that's where he comes in.
During a joint adventure between D and Roman, they find a mysterious database with a large list of targets, but without context. Among them was David, in his initial appearance—without all the implants. Throughout the season, the character is mentioned two more times, but explaining why would spoil all the spoilers for the new season.
Leading the production of Cyberpunk: Mercenaries 2 are director Kai Ikarashi, lead character designer Kanno Ichigo, and the creative minds behind the story are Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 arrives on Netflix this Tuesday (20) with all ten episodes at once.
