A new The Verge report indicates that Xbox has managed to obtain exclusive streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games' next big title.

In an employee hands-on meeting this Tuesday morning, CEO Asha Sharma reportedly told the company that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be the only service allowed to stream the game on its launch, scheduled for November 19. The service allows players who don't own a console to stream games on whichever device of their preference.

It's still unclear how long the exclusivity deal would last. Xbox might be counting on GTA 6 to drive subscriptions for its Cloud gaming service in November, when a new pay-as-you-go system will allow players to buy a limited number of hours to stream a game.

With that in mind, it's likely that a specific GTA 6 bundle will be available for purchase. Given that Rockstar still haven't announced a release date for PC, the exclusivity rights may count as a test drive for players who are still unsure whether to buy the game or a gaming console to play it.

Everything you need to know about GTA VI

Once again developed by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI is the first GTA in thirteen years, following the astronomical success of GTA V, released in 2013. The franchise is one of the most successful in video game history.

The story of GTA VI takes place in an open world based on Florida, in the United States. Its setting is Vice City, a fictional version of Miami that debuted in the first GTA and later got its own game with 2002’s GTA Vice City.

GTA VI arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. A PC version has not yet been announced.
