'GTA 6' Won't Be "Reflective Of the Exact World We Live In", Rockstar Says

Rockstar Games' next big title won't go out of its way to mention real political events. Even though Grand Theft Auto circles around satirizing the social and political climate of the United States every time a new franchise title drops, the developers aren't particularly interested in making the game reflect exactly what's happening in the country.
“Because we are trying to make games that feel very specific to the moment they are released, but at the same time, not reflective of the exact world we live in, we don't want to be too specific about any particular person, event, movement or anything like that", said senior vice president of narrative Rupert Humphries in an interview to Love Magazine.
“And then we have so many ways to tell these stories outside of actually meeting characters face to face. You can see a sign for an election, receive a robocall from a campaign, or hear a commercial on the radio", he continued, stating that Rockstar will try and generalize popular events rather than make them point out particular faces.

Once again developed by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI is the first GTA in thirteen years, following the astronomical success of GTA V, released in 2013. The franchise is one of the most successful in video game history.
The story of GTA VI takes place in an open world based on Florida, in the United States. Its setting is Vice City, a fictional version of Miami that debuted in the first GTA and later got its own game with 2002’s GTA Vice City.
GTA VI arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. A PC version has not yet been announced.
