In an interview with GamesRadar+, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth revealed that he never actually got to play Breath of the Wild, because he was too young at the time. The actor, who plays Daeron Targaryen in the third season of House of the Dragon, has been cast as Link in the The Legend of Zelda movie, alongside Bo Bragason as Zelda.
"I can't speak much about the movie itself, but I remember vividly when Breath of the Wild was released—and maybe that gives away my age", said Ainsworth, who was born in 2008 and didn't have a Nintendo Switch to embark on the ride.
The game, considered by many to be one of the best in the franchise, hit the market in 2017, when the actor was just nine years old. After being cast in the role, Ainsworth dove into the franchise's history to understand the scope of the character he would be playing.
"And then, upon being lucky enough to play this role, such an iconic character, going back and realizing the 40 years of legacy and history, the varied tones, the varied stories, the varied renditions and vocal interpretations of this character," he continued, before stating that New Zealand is a marvelous place and he became a big fan of the series.
The Legend of Zelda opens in theaters on May 7, 2027.
