Full List of All 'God of War' Upcoming Games

After God of War Ragnarok in 2022, the Kratos franchise went on a considerable hiatus. Following the surprise release of Sons of Sparta, however, it seems we’ve entered a very exciting period for fans of the series, with several extremely promising titles on the way.

Check out the full list of upcoming God of War games:

God of War Laufey

Announced during the June 2026 State of Play, the game follows the story of Laufey, Kratos’ wife, whose funeral was shown in the opening scene of God of War (2018). Apparently, she will have to face a limbo where several gods from other mythologies are fighting to return to life.

Release: February 16, 2027.

God of War 1, 2 and 3 Remake

Revealed alongside the release of Sons of Sparta, the revamped versions of Kratos’ original trilogy carry sky-high expectations. The saga set in Greek mythology was masterfully built up to its cathartic conclusion in God of War 3, and these remakes have long been among the most requested titles by fans of the series.

God of War starring Kratos

Still untitled, the next chapter in Kratos’ story is already in development. Cory Barlog, who was responsible for bringing the character back in the 2018 game, confirmed the project during San Diego Comic-Con, but didn’t share many details — it is known, however, that it will tie into the events of God of War Laufey.

Bonus: Live-action series

After filming had begun, Ryan Hurts, who was set to play the protagonist, suffered a serious injury and production was put on hold. The plan is to move forward with another actor in the role of Kratos, but the new name has not yet been confirmed.
