God of War: Laufey Gets a 2027 Release Date at SDCC
The new chapter in the franchise will star Faye and bets on the return of classic hack-and-slash combat
Santa Monica Studio unveiled a new teaser for God of War: Laufey during San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) and confirmed that the game will be released on February 16, 2027 for PlayStation 5.
The title puts players in control of Faye, Kratos’ wife, in a brand-new adventure set shortly after the events of God of War (2018), when the protagonist fulfills his companion’s final wish by scattering her ashes.
In the story, Faye awakens in Everywhen, the gods’ afterlife, and encounters Sekhmet and Begtse, two Gods of War who rule the place and seek to control a corrupted realm. The new game also promises to bring back the hack-and-slash style of the franchise’s first titles, with fast-paced combat, aerial combos, and the help of characters Phranque and Rue throughout the journey.
