The God of War: Laufey panel at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) kicked off with a bang. Cory Barlog, the director of God of War (2018), took the stage to announce that a new entry in the series, once again starring Kratos, is already in development.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much more information yet: all that’s known so far is that the story of the new game will tie into the events of Laufey, which will feature Kratos’ late wife as its protagonist.

Announced in June of this year, God of War: Laufey follows what happened to the giantess after we witnessed her funeral at the beginning of God of War (2018). The game will take players to a kind of “limbo,” where fallen gods seem to be fighting for survival.

The cast includes Deborah Ann-Woll as Laufey and Christopher Judge reprising his role as Kratos. One of the new additions is Jack Quaid, who will play the mysterious cube Phranque. The game does not yet have a release window and will be exclusive to PlayStation 5.
