Rockstar Games art director Aaron Garbut commented on the impact of the Grand Theft Auto VI leaks on the team responsible for the game. In an interview with Bloomberg , he compared the release of gameplay footage from an unfinished version to an invasion of privacy. "It's like someone is rummaging through your dirty laundry," he stated.

According to Garbut, it was difficult to see materials that shouldn't yet be public circulating on the internet: “It's like they're inside your head. You see your old works exposed. Nobody should see that. It's a very strange invasion of privacy. And it's very difficult to deal with emotionally.”

The statements refer to the September 2022 leak, when dozens of videos of a development version of GTA 6 were released without authorization. The episode exposed gameplay footage and triggered an investigation into the company's system intrusion. At the time, Rockstar stated it was "very disappointed" with the premature disclosure of game details.

It's worth remembering that in August 2026, the franchise was once again the target of leaks, this time attributed to a user known as Cyberleek , who published videos with supposedly unreleased scenes from GTA VI.

Everything you need to know about GTA VI

Once again developed by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI is the first GTA in thirteen years, following the astronomical success of GTA V, released in 2013. The franchise is one of the most successful in video game history.

The story of GTA VI takes place in an open world based on Florida, in the United States. Its setting is Vice City, a fictional version of Miami that debuted in the first GTA and later got its own game with 2002’s GTA Vice City.

GTA VI arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. A PC version has not yet been announced.
