According to Deadline, Netflix’s new live-action Scooby-Doo series has added two more names to the cast. André 3000 Benjamin and Cathy Moriarty (Raging Bull) will have recurring roles in Scooby-Doo: Origins.
It’s worth noting that the detective dog’s universe is nothing new for André 3000, since the rapper was part of the soundtrack for the 2002 film, when he wrote the song “Land of a Million Drums” especially for the movie.
Everything you need to know about Scooby-Doo
The live-action Scooby-Doo series will show the origin of the team of investigators known as Mystery Inc. In the story, old friends Daphne and Shaggy are at a summer camp when they begin investigating a supernatural murder that may have been witnessed by a Great Dane puppy. To solve the mystery, they team up with the bookish Velma and newcomer Fred.
The Netflix series marks the first time that Scooby-Doo is “played” by a real puppy on screen. In the live-action films from the 2000s, the character was famously created with CGI.
The series is currently in production, and the main cast includes McKenna Grace as Daphne, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy, Maxwell Jenkins as Fred, and Abby Ryder Forston as Velma. Paul Walter Hauser is also in the series in a role that has not yet been revealed.
The premiere is scheduled for 2027.
