HBO Max released a new poster for Lanterns this Monday (24), this time spotlighting Sinestro (Ulrich Thomsen), since he appears in the series’ second episode.

In the Green Lantern universe, Sinestro is one of Hal Jordan’s (Kyle Chandler) main antagonists, but at the same time, he also once served as Hal Jordan’s mentor, having been a respected Lantern at the time.

The series follows a young John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and a veteran Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) as they become entangled in a dark, earthbound mystery while investigating a murder in the heart of the U.S. It is speculated that the murder in question will be that of a member of the Green Lantern Corps, a kind of intergalactic police force, and that this is how Stewart will receive the ring that gives members of the group the power to create objects made of green light.

The series cast also includes Garrett Dillahunt (No Country for Old Men), Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire), Cary Chrisopher (Weapons) and Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol), in addition to Ulrich Thomsen as the villain Sinestro.

Nathan Fillion will appear as Guy Gardner, one of the Green Lanterns—a role he already played on the big screen in Superman. With eight episodes confirmed, the production is led by Damon Lindelof (Lost, Watchmen), Chris Mundy (Ozark) and Tom King.
