The second season of It: Welcome to Derry promises a different approach to the new episodes, featuring a gangster story told from Pennywise's perspective.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly showrunner Brad Caleb Kane hinted that the next season will be "very exciting and different" from the first. "You can imagine a Warner Bros. gangster movie from the perspective of Pennywise and Stephen King. That's more or less what we're doing," he explained.
Kane also described the new season as "very, very bloody," indicating that the series is set to explore an even more brutal phase of the horrors surrounding the town of Derry.
The second season will be set in 1935 and will follow the Bradley Gang, a group of criminals led by brothers George and Al Bradley, who robbed stores and banks in the city. The plot is expected to address the massacre of the gang, executed by gunfire from Derry residents, an episode inspired by the events described in Stephen King's novel, in which Pennywise was also present.
According to Kane, the team is "fully dedicated" to developing the new episodes: several scripts have already been written, more than half of the story has been defined, and production is entering pre-production.
Although the cast has not yet been confirmed, statements from the creative team suggest the possible return of Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise, the entity's preferred clown form. There is still no release date for season 2.
