In addition to starring in Furious, Emmy Rossum also serves as an executive producer on the Disney+ series. According to her, balancing those two roles requires an almost physical separation between the two sides of the job, something the actress described in detail in an exclusive interview with Omelete.

"As a producer, you're always thinking about the clock," Rossum said, admitting that this instinct makes her want to move faster during scenes. But according to her, you have to "take off the producer hat" when it's time to act. "You have to trust the team you have around you on set and let them do their job," she added, noting that she only takes on that role again later, in post-production, when dealing with the "fires of the day."

Playing emotionally heavy scenes like Alice's also requires a process of "switching off" at the end of the day. Rossum revealed that she uses a shampoo that doesn’t smell like the character, takes a shower, and eats "crunchy things" to ground herself back in reality after more intense shoots.

More than a technical trick, the actress describes this as a way of reminding herself that, even when a scene touches on something personal, it is still work. "It's not a real story. It didn't happen to me," she said, emphasizing the difference between experiencing Alice's pain and carrying it with her off set.

Furious is available on Disney+ and Hulu, with the season finale set for August 31.
