American heavy metal band Slipknot has confirmed the sudden departure of Sid Wilson, who had been part of the group for nearly 30 years. Known as member #0, the musician had served as the band’s DJ and keyboardist since 1998, a year before the release of the band’s debut album.
In a statement posted on social media, Slipknot announced that the split takes effect immediately. “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be affiliated with Sid Wilson. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” the group said. The post, however, was later deleted.
Wilson’s departure had already been reported by TMZ at the end of July, but the reason behind the decision has still not been clarified. At the time, guitarist Jim Root urged fans to be cautious and wrote: “Don’t believe everything you read,” indicating that more information about the situation could emerge.
Wilson is one of the longest-serving members of Slipknot’s lineup and appeared on every studio album released by the band since its self-titled 1999 record. His departure comes after other major changes within the group, including the deaths of Paul Gray in 2010 and Joey Jordison in 2021, as well as the exits of Chris Fehn and Craig Jones. So far, the band has not announced who will replace Wilson at upcoming performances.
