Two industry veterans with long careers, Mike De Luca and Pam Adby, will step down as heads of Warner Bros. Pictures, the film division of Warner Bros. Discovery, when the merger with Paramount Skydance is finalized. This information comes from Puck.
With the merger nearing completion next week, moves are underway. David Ellison, CEO of Paramount Skydance, intends to elevate Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg, heads of Paramount Pictures, to lead both sides and be responsible for the promised 30 films per year that the new Warner/Paramount must release to avoid financial penalties.

Since joining Warner Bros. in 2022, Mike and Pam, as they are known, have adopted a bold strategy of focusing on major filmmakers. It was under their leadership that the studio secured names like Paul Thomas Anderson, Ryan Coogler, and Zach Cregger, who recently made successes such as One Battle After Another, Sinners and Weapons. The studio also released blockbusters like A Minecraft Movie and Superman.
Warner's dream year, however, was in fact a "slow year." In 2026, the studio has not yet released a single film that has grossed over $100 million in the US, experiencing flops like Bride!, Supergirl, and Mortal Kombat II. Ellison wants a team more focused on financial success.

The executive still intends to hire an executive to oversee Warner Bros. Pictures, but for now it is unknown whether this will be someone from outside the company, or if someone from within will be promoted.
