According to information from InSneider, Juan Antonio Bayona is in negotiations to direct the next film in the Jurassic World franchise.
The director, who helmed Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ten years ago, may take over the project following the departure of Gareth Edwards, who left the sequel to Jurassic World Rebirth two months ago due to "creative differences" .
The 2018 film directed by Bayona brought the dinosaurs to a mansion and injected a more terrifying tone than previous installments, which divided critics but guaranteed a strong enough box office to ensure new sequels. Rebirth, by Edwards, followed this path and, despite bad reviews, also did well at the box office.
The script for the new sequel has already been written by David Koepp. Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali , and Jonathan Bailey are expected to return. With the cast and script underway, the expectation is that the director's name will be confirmed soon.
