Tom Holland Updates Fred Astaire Biopic: Rehearsals "Terrifying"

In an interview with Good Morning America, actor Tom Holland shared an update on the Fred Astaire biopic, in which he is going to play the lead role of the late actor and dancer. 

Holland said the project is moving forward and that, as soon as he finishes the press tour for The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, he will return to the dance studio for training.

The actor revealed that he has already done the first rehearsals and that the experience was "exciting and absolutely terrifying" at the same time, due to the amount of work required to honor the legendary dancer’s legacy. He also emphasized his commitment to performing all the dance scenes without doubles, with the numbers filmed in long takes, just as Astaire used to do.

Holland was cast in the role in 2021. The still untitled film is being directed by Paul King (Wonka), with a script from Lee Hall (Rocketman) and Micah Schraft (Jane the Virgin). A release date hasn't been announced.
