After the rumor that Michael Johnson, Bear from Obsessionwill join Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser in the new The Mummy, Deadline has now confirmed that two more names from the franchise’s classic cast will also be back. Oded Fehr and Kevin J. O’Connor will reunite once again with their co-stars from the 1999 film.

Fehr plays Ardeth Bay, the leader of the Medjai, a secret society that protects Egypt and tries to prevent Imhotep’s return. O'Connor, meanwhile, played Benny, a guide who clashes with Brendan Fraser’s character in the search for Imhotep. It will be curious to see how the story handles Benny’s return, since in the film he ends up trapped in the temple as it is buried, along with several flesh-eating scarabs.

Everything you need to know about The Mummy 4

The Mummy 4 marks the return of Rachel Weisz, John Hannah and Brendan Fraser to the franchise. Filming was scheduled to begin in August.

Sean Daniel, who produced the original films, is returning to produce this new feature. The movie is not being described as a reboot, but rather as a continuation of the franchise that will ignore the events of the third film, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

The Mummy franchise, which revitalized the Universal monster, had its first film in 1999, grossing US$ 422.5 million, launching a successful franchise and turning Fraser into one of the era’s leading actors.

The Mummy 4 still does not have a release date.
