In an exclusive interview with The Direct, The Incredibles 3 writer and executive producer Brad Bird said the film will not feature a time jump to age up the teenage characters Violet, Dash, and baby Jack-Jack. According to Bird, that change would make the movie lose "the archetypal aspect" that is fundamental to the franchise.

Bird explained that each member of the Parr family represents a stage of life, and that those choices are deliberate and essential to the series' identity. About baby Jack-Jack, he said: "Everyone has been a baby, and they know what babies are. Babies are... who knows what they are, right? They might be amazing. They might be the next bum on the corner. You don't know. Babies are an unknown. They can have all the powers. They might have none. You don't know".

For Dash, Bird linked super speed to the trademark energy of a 10-year-old: "Then you get to 10. People are energetic, anxious, all over the place, with short attention spans...". The filmmaker also commented on the parents: "Moms are pulled in ten different directions at the same time, like taffu, which makes her elastic. Dads are expected to be strong, you know?".

Bird summed up his view arguing that family archetypes are central to the franchise, and that changing that dynamic would compromise the essence of the story.

The Incredibles 3 is scheduled to be released on June 16, 2028, directed by Peter Sohn (Elemental), with Bird handling the screenplay and executive production.
