Nicolas Cage is set to star in yet another apocalyptic film in his career. According to exclusive information from Deadline, gathered on the market floor at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the actor will lead Parish, a new action thriller.
In the story, Cage will play one of the last survivors of a nuclear apocalypse that took place 30 years earlier. He lives in isolation in a desert shelter alongside trained attack dogs and follows one rule: let no one in.
The situation changes when a woman shows up carrying a baby and asks for help. By deciding to take her in, Parish ends up putting his hideout at risk and becomes the target of a group of cannibals.
Filming is scheduled to begin in October in Minnesota. The film will be written and directed by Adam Sigal, known for Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose and producer of Slingshot.
Concourse Media is offering the project to international buyers during the TIFF market. There is still no release date set.
