Inde Navarrette Remains a Top Contender for 'Heat 2', Report Says

According to Nexus Point News, Inde Navarrette remains in contention for the role of Gabriella in Heat 2, after Page Six reported that the actress had turned down the role. The possibility of Navarrette joining the film makes sense, given that the actress has expressed interest in working with director Michael Mann.

However, she is not the only actress being considered. Eiza González is in contention for the role of Elisa, while Odessa Young is being considered to play Charlene, a role originally portrayed by Ashley Judd. Auditions have already taken place, but no decision has been finalized.

The story will work as both a prequel and a sequel to the original film, exploring events before and after those of Heat. The first Heat, from 1995, follows thief Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) as he plans one last heist while LAPD detective Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) closes in. Mann wrote, directed, and produced the film alongside Art Linson.

The movie grossed more than $187 million at the worldwide box office—the equivalent of around $400 million today—and influenced generations of filmmakers.
