'Obsession' Star Inde Navarrette Says Horror Hit Proves Younger Audiences Still Love Cinema

In a Variety feature on emerging talent in 2026, Inde Navarrette, who broke out with Obsession, commented on the idea that people believed her generation didn’t like going to the movies.

“I truly believe in the power of the right moment,” she says. “Obsession came out at a time when people were starting to believe that my generation had lost its love for cinema. Now there’s undeniable proof that younger generations really do go to the movies.”

Recently, Obsession became the fifth highest-grossing horror movie of all time, with a worldwide box office total of more than $460 million.

The story follows a young romantic who decides to break the mysterious One Wish Willow to win over the person he’s in love with. The wish does come true, but he soon discovers that meddling with unknown forces can bring dark and dangerous consequences.

The cast includes Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless and Andy Richter. 

Obsession was acclaimed at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), screened at festivals such as Fantastic Fest, and won the Audience Award at Sitges. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 94% approval rating.
