The screenplay is written by award-winning playwright James Graham, known for productions such as Dear England, Sherwood, and Brexit. According to Boyle, the story shows how the launch of The Sun helped transform the way news was consumed and influenced modern media decades before the rise of social networks like Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).

The film arrives on Netflix on January 8, 2027.
