After closing a licensing agreement with Disney, Netflix announced a major new partnership to expand its catalog: this time, with Globo. The contract provides for the availability of 18 original productions from the Brazilian network on the streaming service starting in December, including notable films such as I'm Still Here, winner of the 2025 Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, and Vitória, starring Fernanda Montenegro.

The package includes 14 films, three telenovelas, and one serie , with titles dubbed and subtitled in different languages. I'm Still Here will arrive on Netflix exclusively in Brazil. Meanwhile, Vitória, by Andrucha Waddington, will have global distribution on the platform.

The agreement also includes television productions. The telenovela Caminho das Índias, written by Glória Perez and directed by Marcos Schechtman, will be added to the Netflix catalog in the United States and Latin America, with the exception of Brazil. The show won the International Emmy Award for Best Telenovela in 2009.

Another title included is the comedy series Vai Que Cola, created by Leandro Soares and directed by João Fonseca and Regis Faria. All seven seasons of the show will be available exclusively in Brazil.

The release schedule will extend from December until mid-2027. According to the companies, the partnership aims to broaden the reach of Brazilian productions and bring national stories to different audiences around the world.

“We are happy to be able to bring Globo’s excellence to audiences around the world,” said Elisabetta Zenatti, Vice President of Content at Netflix Brazil. The executive also expressed her hope that the agreement will be the beginning of a lasting partnership between the two companies, highlighting their shared ambition and commitment to expanding Brazilian culture.

Pedro Garcia, Director of Rights at Globo, also celebrated the agreement and highlighted the growing interest in Brazilian audiovisual production in international markets.

"It makes us proud to see interest in Brazilian productions growing across different markets” he stated. According to him, the union between Globo's experience and Netflix's global reach represents another step towards expanding the presence and recognition of Brazilian audiovisual content abroad.

The partnership with Globo comes just days after Netflix closed a licensing deal with Disney, which brought franchises such as Ice Age and Percy Jackson and the Olympians to its catalog. These productions have become some of the platform's most-watched content, appearing in the Top 10 and reinforcing Netflix's strategy of expanding its catalog with well-known franchises and works from different studios.
