Disney Exclusives to Hit Netflix With New Licensing Deal; Learn More
Series such as Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the Ice Age franchise will also be on Netflix
Disney and Netflix have entered a new licensing agreement in order to make the Mouse's own products even more popular. As of October 4, series such as Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the Ice Age franchise will also be available to stream on Netflix.
Netflix's 325 million global audience will also have access to Will Trent, Shifting Gears, Tracker and, starting 2027, animations such as Soul, Elio and Raya and the Last Dragon. Additional Walt Disney Animation Studios and/or Pixar features are set to be added to Netflix, with availability depending on regional deals.
Exclusively to United States' costumers, series Felicity and Fresh Off the Boat will be available starting October 7, while This Is Us and Revenge will be available to global Netflix subscribers. This new licensing agreement is part of Disney Entertainment's strategy to broader its own audience.
For Disney, the deal creates a dual-revenue mechanism: collecting substantial licensing fees from Netflix while maintaining primary domestic rights on Disney+ and Hulu, where all licensed titles will continue to stream concurrently.
For Netflix, acquiring proven library content and broadcast hits strengthens its viewing hours while its own production slate—including upcoming feature releases like Steps, Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory, and Guillermo del Toro’s The Buried Giant—continues to mature.
