Nicolas Cage, Michael Sheen, Jordi Mollà, Emilio Sakray, and Adrian Topol will star in CLAY, a cyberpunk psychological thriller that marks Simon Afram's directorial debut. He also wrote and produced the film. According to Deadline, the cast is still being finalized.
According to the synopsis, the film "follows a brilliant but socially invisible computer prodigy who finds purpose and belonging when he is drawn into CLAY (Clowns Laughing At You), an underground hacker collective whose daring exploits transform digital provocation into real-world consequences." The text further states that "as the group's notoriety grows, their actions attract the attention of intelligence agencies, crime syndicates, and rival hackers."
"CLAY is about identity, belonging, and the extraordinary power the digital world can have over our real lives. At its core, it's a profoundly human story about people searching for purpose in a world where almost anything is possible behind a screen," said Afram. "I wanted to create a film that captivates the viewer, is unpredictable, and stays with them long after it's over," the director added.
Filming begins November 2026 in London. The production company responsible is Clay Pictures Ltd.
