‘Bocchi the Rock!’ Announces New Theatrical Film for a 2027 Release
ANIMEC will handle distribution
An upcoming theatrical anime film titled Bocchi the Rock! The Movie: Starry Footprints has been officially announced, with a scheduled premiere in Japan for 2027.
The new movie shifts its narrative focus to the background history of the Ijichi sisters, Nijika and Seika, exploring a storyline rooted in volume five of Aki Hamaji’s original manga.
The plot traces back to events surrounding the separation of the sisters a decade prior.
Production for the film is underway at studio CloverWorks. Shin Wakabayashi is directing the project, with a production crew featuring scriptwriter Erika Yoshida and character designer Yukiko Horiguchi. ANIMEC is handling distribution.
While the film focuses on the pre-Kessoku Band era and the history of the STARRY live house, production on the previously announced second season of the television anime series is also continuing separately.
