Wesley Snipes' 'Blade' Costume on Display at the Academy Museum

A new image has surfaced online showing that the suit worn by Wesley Snipes in the Blade franchise films is on display at the Academy Museum of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In the image, it's possible to see that the character's classic overcoat, vest, weapon, and katana are on display. Unfortunately, the classic glasses worn by Snipes are not present on the mannequin.

The film, released in 1998 and based on the Vampire Hunter series, was directed by Stephen Norrington and written by David S. Goyer . In the plot, Blade, after being contaminated by the blood of a creature of darkness, becomes a Daywalker, being a hybrid of vampire and bat.

Blade was a box office and commercial success, with a budget of $45 million and grossing $131 million, and it became one of Snipes' most memorable roles.

The film spawned two sequels, Blade II (2002) and Blade: Trinity (2004). Twenty years later, Snipes returned to the role of Blade one last time to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, where he played an older version of the character.

In 2019, there was an attempt to bring the character to the MCU with Mahershala Ali. The endeavor, however, ultimately failed, and Ali appears to have left the situation unhappy with Kevin Feige and Disney for not being able to get the project off the ground.
